Research on Eportfolios, Lifelong Learning, and Assessment

Winner of the 2012 MacAuthur Foundation Digital Media and Learning Faculty Writing Prize

For over a decade, Darren Cambridge conducted empirical and theoretical research on eportfolios and learning, with a particular emphasis on higher education and lifelong learning contexts. This work is synthesized in Eportfolios for Lifelong Learning and Assessment (Jossey-Bass, 2010), which won the Digital Media and Learning Faculty Writing Prize from the MacArthur Foundation in 2012. It draws on work first published in journals such as Campus Wide Information Systems, Computers and Education, the Journal of General Education, and the Journal of Online Learning and Teaching. In the book, Cambridge present a theory of learning and career development that draws on work from philosophy, sociology, psychology, information science, and education. It details three ideals—authenticity, deliberation, and integrity—which are applicable to education at all levels. Here's a review.
